Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket

How do you make a hotdog even more delicious? You wrap a biscuit around it! These gluten free pigs in a blanket will be a hit with your family. They are a soft, buttery biscuit wrapped around a hotdog. Eat them plain or dip them in your favorite sauce (try my honey sweetened BBQ sauce). What you need:

Hotdogs (8) — I like to buy the bun length hotdog for this application.

Gluten free biscuit recipe. Click on the link and print off the recipe for the gluten free biscuits. Make only half the recipe for the pigs in a blanket or you can make the entire recipe and freeze some of the biscuit dough for later use.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a cooking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Go print off the recipe for my gluten free biscuits and make half a recipe.

Now that you have your biscuit dough made there are a few ways to divide the dough. Either you can slice off a piece or cut the dough into 16 equal pieces. I chose to slice off a piece as I worked.

Cut the hotdogs in half so that you will have 16 equal pieces. Using a paper towel dry off the hotdog piece because the dough will not stick to the hotdog if it is wet.

Take the piece of dough and lay the hotdog on top and begin to roll up the dough and hotdog together.

This is difficult to capture in a picture, but I think you will figure it out. Press the dough around the hotdog and then place it on a parchment paper lined cooking sheet. Repeat with all the hotdogs.

Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or until slightly browned. Let the hotdogs cool for a few minutes before you eat them. Serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 recipe Biscuit dough (on my blog)
  • 8 hotdogs, cut in half

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a cooking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Dry the hotdogs with a paper towel so the dough will stick to the hotdog.
  • Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. Press one piece of dough flat. Place the hotdog on top of the dough and roll the dough and hotdog up together. Press the dough around the hotdog.
  • Place the pig in a blanket on the cooking sheet and repeat the process with the remaining hotdogs.
  • Bake the pigs in a blanket for 15-20 minutes or until slightly browned.
  • Cool for several minutes and then enjoy!
